Enterprise Data Warehousing in Insurance Industry improves efficiency by 40%

Insurance AMS leverages Enterprise Data Warehousing and saves 40% time

At arieotech, we are dedicated to mobilising technology to address any challenges that might hold a business back from achieving its maximum potential. One such challenge is the lack of uniformity in data collection, storage, and reporting processes and formats, which brings hidden costs of time delays and suboptimization of labour. In our recent work with an Insurance Agency Management System (AMS), we provided enterprise data warehousing solutions to overcome this challenge, improve reporting and analytics, and sharpen business insights.

Challenge

This leading Insurance AMS was working with over 300 carriers and running operations across 18 technology products. The company had to handle sensitive customer information, including details of claims and settlements. Moreover, as an AMS, it provided functions such as email management, electronic payments, and the use of electronic signatures to its customers. Managing data across 10 integrated functions, such as email management, resulted in a high volume of disparate and scattered data. Garnering business insights was a slow process, taking up to two days due to reliance on manual tasks using spreadsheets. Despite the high amount of data, the company had no access to long-term trends and user behavior patterns. Existing data collection processes focused only on short-term data recording, as required for transactions. Was there a way to accelerate and improve data-based insights?

Solution

Our team of experts at arieotech developed an enterprise data warehouse to centralize all the varied data the company had in inconsistent formats. This centralized warehouse minimized errors from duplicated or incompletely processed data. Data storage became automatic, increasing time efficiency by up to 40%. Going a step further, our team helped this company capitalize on all this data by implementing a platform that generates dynamic and accurate reports, easily understood at a glance. These ready-to-use reports heightened the usefulness of the data the company already had at its fingertips, increasing operational efficiency by over 25%.

Impact

25% increase in operational efficiency

40% faster report generation

Access to near zero-error data

Increased understanding of trends and patterns

Data warehousing has been identified as a fundamental tool in the insurance industry, which depends on collecting and processing vast pools of data from diverse entities such as health agencies, companies it covers, and other intermediaries.

With the benefit of this foresight and a desire to make every business hour count, an Insurance AMS company assigned us the task of centralizing all its data in one place. The company we worked with offers a one-stop platform for all customer needs and tasks: a roster of client information, a repository of policy details, and internal modules to handle core functions such as claims handling. Juggling different stakeholders meant accessing data across varying formats and warehouses, resulting in a loss of time better served in offering customized service.

Without an enterprise data warehouse, the company did not have easy access to long-term data and user behavior patterns since existing data recording processes were oriented towards transactions. The OLTP framework within which this transactional data was recorded was unsuitable for handling and storing historical data, as any data load beyond its specified capacity would restrict speed and impact customer satisfaction.

Insurance through Enterprise Data Warehousing for Historical and Error-Free Data

Our team helped the company overcome this obstacle through the creation of a dedicated warehouse. arieotech’s in-house experts did this by using advanced technologies such as Azure SQL Server, SQL Server Management Studio, and strategic use of MS Excel with added levels of security. This centralized warehouse minimized errors from duplicated, inconsistent, or incompletely processed data, increasing operational efficiency by 25%.

Snappy Data Reporting for Better Business Insights

Going a step further, our team helped this company capitalize on all this data by implementing a platform that generates dynamic and accurate reports, easily understood at a glance. Deploying their skills in specialized reporting software such as Visual Studio, Power BI, Dax Studio, and Tabular Editor helped them achieve this. The resulting reports are not only visually appealing but also helped accelerate business decisions by 40%. They highlighted relevant and key information as stakeholders considered all the strategic options on their table. User patterns, functions needing extra resources due to demand surges, or extra attention due to underperformance all became apparent.

We were able to gear technology use to not just overcome existing challenges but to ensure the best business outcomes. You can also do this for your own organization.
