For an industry like oil and gas, which involves complex tasks such as exploration, market analysis, demand prediction, inventory management, and the upkeep of internal processes, workflow automation is critical. Moreover, many of the staff performing these tasks were short-term laborers due to the nature of the industry. This added complexity, as continuity in paperwork was often lacking. The absence of standardization also slowed vertical communication, as regional heads or supervisors had to wait long periods to receive reports. This delay hindered the timely extraction of insights and decision-making.

 

These processes were ripe for a digital transformation to improve operational efficiency and, most importantly, to free up human resources for more valuable and strategic tasks.

 

Even the existing digital systems in place were cumbersome, with disparate platforms for stock management, task management, and team management. The lack of a cohesive, unified system meant these functions were operating in silos, unable to fully realize the benefits of a well-optimized digital infrastructure.

Launching lean mechanisms: Technological transformation

arieotech’s experts analyzed the existing legacy systems and addressed the complications caused by isolated systems by implementing a Unified Management Portal. This portal—developed using C#—simplified team management, rostering, and payroll tasks, ensuring accountability throughout the process. The design of a centralized platform also enabled role-based rostering and customizable payroll systems. To enhance the user experience, our team developed an intuitive front end using React.

 

We also designed a microservices-based architecture that replaced the existing fragmented systems, improving scalability and maintainability. This architecture led to faster API calls, as separate codes were deployed for different modules. In the event of an error in one module, other modules could continue functioning smoothly.

 

The management of documents, license renewals, seasonal and daily tasks, and petrol and gas price setting were all automated. To provide a quick visual snapshot of stock statuses, we incorporated Power BI for centralized reporting. Additionally, we utilized Azure OpenAI to provide access to document intelligence.
